Yup that’s the theme for our Speech and Drama Holiday Program this June School Holidays. It will be quite exciting and I’m definitely looking forward to this. I seriously have no idea whether it’s more fun for me to see our kids’ antics or them looking at me making a fool of myself. Besides the close bonding, the children do learn some acting and speaking skills and hopefully will also be able to perform for their parents on the last day.
There is also a Teacher’s Training workshop that we try to have once a year as we have many requests from teachers in our Studio or outside wanting to learn more and just to equip themselves with creative ways to teach their students in just about anything. I’m looking forward to this as well because that’s when I get to ‘role-play’ and be the student… Usually I will be the naughty one… Hey, well… at least we get to learn from the different scenarios!
The Diploma students are also busy preparing with their showcases. It has been exciting yet, the panic mode does strike once in awhile. It will be a first performance for many of them. It has been decided that they will do one monologue and one solo performance. Yours truly is also a student and well, it has been a lot of work. All the best you guys! I’m sure can do it. It will be on Blubricks’ Open Day on June 26, which is the mark the ending of our first smemester. Hope to see you there!!

March 2nd, 2010 by blubricks
It is March now and seriously… time flies!!! However, I have to say that the year has a lot of promises for us here at Blubricks. I have started teaching at 2 new places, ie, TTDI and Putra Heights. We will also be starting our Diploma in Speech and Drama this Saturday.
This is exciting for us as the diploma course is the first in Malaysia. We had our orientation 2 weeks back and I am sensing that our students are going to love it so much.
As exciting as this year already is for us, there are more things to come. One of it is that we are looking towards catering our program to special needs children. We have many requests in the past and we thought that perhaps we should start looking into working out a program for them.
Also, we have slowly started working on our production. There have been some exciting suggestions to the production and once this is confirmed, I will definitely reveal it to you. So, just lookout for out next post!
Signing off now!

The year is almost coming to an end and it has been an awesome journey this year with the team. I may not be that long with them but it does feel that I have worked here all my life. So many wonderful things have happened this year. We saw ourselves a few times being mentioned by the media. Malay Mail announced our Diploma in Speech and Drama from Trinity Guildhall London that we are now offering; the first and only one in Malaysia. We are looking forward to starting our first intake next year. I have to admit though that we were really busy with concerts towards the end of the year. I remember posting about preparing one of my classes for their concerts. We had quite a number of things to prepare for and it was exciting. I have to say that we are very proud of our students. They did well in their respective performances. It’s the year end school holidays, and I have been busy with the various holiday programs that were conducted, ranging from speech and drama, public speaking and also creative writing for ages as young as 4 years old to the oldest being 15 years old. For the speech and drama session, they also managed to put up a show after two days of the speech and drama workshop. We also had to prepare our students who were sitting for exams and I must say they did very well. Registration for enrollment has already begun for next year so please do contact us!! So with such a great year we had there is only more to look forward to in 2010. Merry Christmas and Have a Wonderful 2010!

One of the classes I am teaching is busy preparing a sketch for their year-end concert. I can see that the excitement is mounting for the children as the concert nears. What really impresses me so much is how they have grown so much as a team, helping each other out and even wanting to co-operate with me so that they can rehearse better. I guess they now realise that if they do a good job, we will then have more time spent on other learning games. I sort of sense that they miss that. I cannot blame them though. If I, a 28 year old can still feel nervous about scripts what more the 5 year olds and 6 year olds. Having said that, I must say that even my one and only 4 year old is doing really well with his lines. They all are doing a good job and I am very proud of them as I know they are definitely putting their best in this.
When I first started this class a couple of months back, I have to admit that they were a handful and I had a hard time controlling them but through time, perhaps because of the relationship I have now established with them, they have improved so much and never fail to surprise me of how good they can be.
I did however, feel the need to address certain issues that were cropping up in the class. I sensed that some were feeling inferior of their role and also that some were experiencing extreme anxiety and wanted to give up. It did help to make them sit in a circle and honestly discuss about it. I ensured them that all what matters at the end of the day is that they do their best and there is no such thing as an inferior role as all roles are important, otherwise the story cannot go on.
Having said that, I can’t wait to see my babies perform!! I know they will do well.
